Apollon is a Boston-based MedTech startup developing MOGLU, a non-invasive continuous glucose monitor powered by Raman spectroscopy. We work in close collaboration with MIT and Analog Devices, have filed 50+ patents, and are advancing toward clinical studies at BMC and the Joslin Diabetes Center. Our mission is to eliminate the needle from diabetes management.
The Opportunity
Software is a greenfield function at Apollon. You will be our first dedicated software hire, working directly with the founder and hardware team to build the application layer for MOGLU. The bar is high: we expect the user experience to be at the level of leading CGM apps or Whoop. If you have built consumer health applications and understand what it takes to make a medical device feel consumer-grade, this role is for you.
What You Will Do
- Build and own the MOGLU mobile application (iOS and/or Android) from the ground up
- Design data pipelines from device to cloud, including glucose readings, sensor telemetry, and user data
- Collaborate with hardware engineers on BLE/wireless communication protocols between device and app
- Ensure software architecture is compatible with SaMD regulatory pathways (FDA, MDR) if applicable
- Establish software development practices and contribute to technical hiring as the team grows
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong mobile portfolio
- Demonstrated ability to build polished, reliable consumer health or wearable applications
- Experience with BLE communication, sensor data handling, and real-time data visualization
- Comfort working across the full stack -- device interface to cloud backend to user-facing app
- SaMD (Software as a Medical Device) experience is a meaningful plus; IEC 62304 or FDA software guidance familiarity welcome
- Start-up experience preferred; you should be comfortable being the first and setting the foundation
Compensation
We benchmark against W2 compensation at comparable companies and will exceed it. Equity included. As our first software hire, your role in shaping the team will be recognized.
