About Apollon
Apollon is a Boston-based MedTech startup developing MOGLU, a non-invasive continuous glucose monitor powered by Raman spectroscopy. We work in close collaboration with MIT and Analog Devices, have filed 50+ patents, and are advancing toward clinical studies at BMC and the Joslin Diabetes Center. Our mission is to eliminate the needle from diabetes management.
The Opportunity
We are building out our core hardware team and are looking for an optomechanical engineer who has actually miniaturized optical systems -- not just designed them at bench scale. If you have done this for a wearable, medical device, or compact sensing platform, we want to talk. Raman spectroscopy experience is a meaningful plus.
What You Will Do
- Design, prototype, and iterate on optomechanical assemblies for MOGLU's wearable form factor
- Develop mounting structures, alignment mechanisms, and packaging solutions for laser and detector components
- Work closely with ASIC and software teams to ensure optical and mechanical constraints are respected across the system
- Drive tolerance analysis, thermal management, and vibration modeling
- Contribute to patent filings and technical documentation
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on optomechanical engineering experience, with demonstrated miniaturization work
- Experience taking optical assemblies from bench prototype to manufacturable hardware -- not just simulation or concept
- Familiarity with laser-based or spectroscopy-based systems strongly preferred
- Raman spectroscopy experience is a significant plus
- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks or equivalent), tolerance analysis, and optical simulation tools
- Medical device or wearable product experience is a plus
- BS or MS in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics
